Butternut Box

It all started with a dog who couldn’t stop farting, called Rudie, and two friends who wanted to build a company that delivers health and happiness, called Kev and
Dave. When Dave’s family rescued Rudie after she’d been abandoned, she was in a really bad way. After months of vet visits, they began to think Rudie’s diet could be the problem.
They started to cook her meals from scratch - sourcing and gently cooking healthy ingredients, and developing the perfect recipe. In just weeks, Rudie’s well-being transformed. When Dave told Kev about Rudie’s recovery, they went to their local supermarket, stood in the dog food section alongside the bin liners and bleach, and decided that the four-legged family members of the world deserved better - and in March 2016, Butternut Box was born.
What is Fresh Dog Food?
Human-quality meat and vegetables, gently cooked to create simple, tasty, and complete meals. All created with the right balance of vitamins and minerals for dogs of every age.
No nasties, no grains and no harsh temperatures

New Forest Cottages

New Forest Cottages are the area’s largest dog-friendly accommodation provider with a portfolio of over 70 dog welcoming pretty cottages, large family homes as well as barns, cabins and apartments. Some have private swimming pools, swings, orchards, tree-houses and even private beaches. Prices start low up to luxury level and you’ll be sure to find a holiday home from home to suit all age groups, budgets and tastes. Each offering great bow-wow factors for dogs and their owners.
In total, New Forest Cottages have 140 properties in and around the region located in the peace and tranquillity of rural forest for gorgeous walks right outside your front door, as well as in towns, and villages frequented by free-roaming ponies. There’s also holiday properties along the stunning adjacent coastline and beaches, most of which welcome dogs all year round for sea-salty walks and swims in surf.
If you’re looking for space to sprawl
There are plenty of hotels in the area, but you’ll be sharing social spaces. Staying with your pooch in a holiday cottage is far more spacious, relaxing and comfortable. You can set your own agenda for meal times, eat with your dog in the room, not worry about last orders at the bar and if you have a swimming pool, take a bob in the water under the stars whenever you like. All you have to do is arrive, unpack, open a bottle of your favourite tipple and relax.
It’s super dog-friendly here!
The New Forest National Park is regarded as one of the most dog-friendly areas in the UK. It’s home to one of the largest remaining wildwoods in Western Europe, set in 220 square miles of wooded glades and sprawling pink and purple heather plains. Your dogs will love time here as much as you will.
Spring and summer holidays hail meadows strewn with wild flowers, butterflies and birdsong accompanied by chirping crickets. Think long nights alfresco dining in bloom scented gardens and early morning jaunts along the coastline. Winter months are just as popular when crisp air and sparkly ice laden trees take on a magical vibe. After a day exploring, return to the cosy comfort of a forest cottage, light the log fire and join your pooch for a snuggle. Whatever the season, take time to explore the New Forest’s well signposted walking trails, tracks and cycle routes. Maybe pack a picnic, have lunch at an historic pub and discover why so many dog owners return year after year.

How to find a dog-friendly holiday cottage
Go to the New Forest Cottages website and click search, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know your dates yet. Just tick the box ‘Pet Friendly’, press search again, and all the properties that would love to host your furry friend (or friends) will appear. You can view the cottages as a list or, by selecting ‘view on map’, you can see exactly where in the forest the property is and what the surrounding area is like.
Each of the properties has a full page listing with a carrousel of photos, a full description of the holiday home inside; plus its gardens and outside space along with any shortcomings - so there won’t be any surprises. The majority of cottage listings also include a 3D interactive virtual tour and/or a video. You can see all about the local area, nearest farm shop, supermarkets etc. as well as where to eat and drink, things to do, nearest bike hire and the closest beaches.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

At our three centres, we take dogs and cats in regardless of their age, breed or medical condition and without any judgement. Our staff give each and every animal the specialised care they need, getting to know their characters and quirks so we can find them a new home that’s just right for them.
We learn so much caring for dogs and cats every day, and all the knowledge that we gather helps us to improve the lives of the animals we’ll never meet, through our work with other rescue organisations and charities at home and abroad.
In addition to the above, we use our expertise and voice to provide training and welfare advice to help owners best care for their pets, and we campaign for changes in the law when we see that dogs and cats or their owners deserve better.
We do all of this because we want to be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need us.
Street Vet

StreetVet is a charity providing free accessible vet care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness. Our aim is to protect the human-animal bond, ensuring that pets and their owners can be kept together wherever possible. We do this by helping owners to keep their pets healthy and happy, advocating for pets and their owners, and by helping to eliminate barriers which otherwise exclude pet owners from accessing essential services. Most of our patients are dogs, but we also have cats, rabbits, rats, ferrets, and 2 Bearded Dragons registered with us.
StreetVet started in 2016 with two vets and a backpack walking around London and is now an RCVS registered practice currently operating in 17 locations in the UK. As well as London, we now have volunteer vets and nurses running outreach clinics on the street in the following areas: Brighton, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Plymouth, Cornwall, Bristol, Gloucester, Cambridge, Norwich, Reading, Southampton, Peterborough, Lincoln, Swansea, Glasgow and Aberdeen. As much as possible, we try to work with other grass-root organisations, such as soup kitchens and day centres, offering support to the homeless.
Anything that can be done in the consulting room, StreetVet can do on the streets! Sampling lumps, microchipping, dispensing medication, eye, ear and skin checks, We also offer food, bedding, coats, collars, leads, and toys to our patients. Where surgery or hospitalisastion is required, this is funded by StreetVet and arranged through a local vet practice that supports our work. We also fund transportation to and from vet practices if needed, and we fund emergency boarding in specific situations, e.g. an owner being admitted to hospital. We provide a 24 hour emergency support number to our clients so that they have access to veterinary support whenever their pet needs it.
Our volunteers run weekly hostel and day centre visits and we are working with hostels to offer them a package of veterinary support to enable them to accept pets and offer accommodation to a greater number of homeless people. We started the StreetVet Accreditation scheme in 2021, with our pilot hostel, DENS, and our goal for this year is to increase the scheme with a number of hostels interested in joining. StreetVet now has over 400 volunteers and 1,350 current patients, and we know that demand for our help will sadly increase over the coming year.
Pets As Therapy

Pets As Therapy have over 5,700 registered volunteers throughout the UK.
Volunteers give as much time as they can to their visiting, there is no minimum! Visiting can take place during the working week daytime, early-evening and indeed weekends and should always be appropriate to both the volunteer and the establishment they will visit.
