If dogs could pick their perfect holiday!
Hi humans! Listen up. It’s me, Baxter—your faithful, fun-loving, adventure-sniffing best mate. If I could book my own holiday, I know exactly where I’d go – and trust me, it wouldn’t involve kennels or “pet-friendly” hotels where I get stared at and sometimes told off.
Nope, I’d pick somewhere with snuffling trails through woods, heathlands, and beaches where I can go to zoomies and plenty of dog-friendly spots where my humans can grab a snack (to share with me). That place? It would be The New Forest. And I’d want to stay with New Forest Cottages – because they have everything a dog dreams of. Let me explain…
The sniffari season
Spring is when I think the world smells the best. Fresh grass, new flowers, and all sorts of critters. As an experienced scent investigator, I want endless trails to explore where I can stop to smell trees, hedges, and mysterious scents. After that, I’ll be zonked, so I want a pretty holiday cottage with a dog-friendly garden to stretch out on the grass and catch the sun’s first warm rays of the year. Obviously, I’d love our cottage to be close to a dog-friendly pub. Ideally one with treats on tap, a fresh bowl of water, and a crackling fire to snooze in front of while you enjoy your weird-smelling drinks. Luckily, plenty of New Forest Cottages are near great pubs – because, let’s be real, no one wants a holiday where pups aren’t welcome!
Wet noses and waggy tails
I’d start every summer morning with a beach run. Imagine it: zooming across the sand, splashing in the waves, chasing seagulls (with no real chance of catching them, but still so much fun to try). The coastline by the New Forest has miles and miles of dog-friendly beaches, which means I get to paddle, roll, and shake off salty water right next to you. And I know you love that.

Later on, I’d like shady woodland walks and a dip in a stream or pond. My choice of home in the warmer months would have hard floors to flop down and cool my belly. Oh, and let’s not forget the highlight of my social calendar – Dogstival. I’d book my ticket early if I could because I love it so much! If you’re traveling from outside the area, New Forest Cottages make the perfect base for a Dogstival weekend. Or, if you’re local and have friends coming with their pups but no space to host, booking a nearby cottage is a barkingly brilliant way to make sure everyone has a comfy stay.

Leaves and snuggle season
Crisp mornings, crunchy leaves, and long, misty walks – autumn is epic. As a certified leaf enthusiast, my main goal is to chase, crunch, and roll in as many piles of leaves as possible. In the evenings, I’m always ready for a snooze, and with the nights being chilly, I need a cottage with a log burner – because every dog knows that nothing beats curling up in front of a fire. And with New Forest Cottages having so many pads to fit the bill, my dream holiday is sorted.
I love frosty mornings and warm blankets.
Winter is pure magic. Crackly grass under my paws and that frosty, fresh air makes me want to run in giant circles for absolutely no reason. I can go full speed without a care in the world. Afterwards, I love a warm, toasty home and blankets from my bed to burrow into. A dog-friendly café nearby is handy, too – I’ll sit beside you while you sip a hot chocolate (and if you’re nice, you’ll slip me a gravy bone from the nice lady behind the counter).
Mum and Dad! What are we waiting for? New Forest Cottages have everything I could ever want.
